Petrol price in Delhi remains unchanged at Rs 101.84 per liter and in Mumbai at around Rs 108 per liter. The price of petrol in Kolkata and Chennai is more than Rs 102 per litre. There are more than two dozen cities where petrol is being sold at more than Rs 100 per litre.
Diesel prices also remain high as state-owned oil companies continue to retail higher prices of petrol and diesel. It is retailing at Rs 89.87 per liter in the national capital, where the rate is the lowest among other cities. The price of diesel has crossed Rs 90 in all the major cities of the country.
While global oil prices remain volatile, state-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) are yet to reduce rates. It is likely that OMCs are waiting for a favorable situation where global oil rates may see a further fall.
